On Monday night, the annual SHP Poetry Slam was held in the music room of the Holdrege Middle School. Students and Instructors packed into the room to hear some rollicking, ridiculous and random poetry that would make Shakespeare proud. As usual, the winners took away worthless prizes, but the pride of knowing their poetry was judged to be the best, or if not the best, the most entertaining. Tyrell Howsden and Alex Nielsen won the competition with an impromptu rant with excruciating rhymes. Margo Huggins won second place with her nature inspired poem, “Nevermind,” and third place went to Stacey Kaslon for her poem, “I’m Nervous.” All in all, the night was filled with laughs and groans.
