On September 8, ESU 11 conducted the second day of the Entry Year Assistance training for school teams. During this training, a mentor and a new teacher had the opportunity to learn about the following topics: Building Positive Relationships with Parents, Parent Teacher Conferences, and Using Technology to Increase Student Engagement. Time was also spent in using the NDE’s Teacher Performance Standards and Rubrics in order to determine skills and practices that new teachers need to hone in order to be effective teachers. This training provided an opportunity for mentors and teachers to collaborate and discuss classroom issues in a safe, supportive environment.
