During the week of June 10, 2019, the ESU #11 Staff Development Department provided an intensive training for teachers within the service unit area. This training focused on providing teachers with strategies and practical applications to allow them to check for student understanding and allow junior/high school students the opportunity to process content information for 2 minutes after approximately 10 minutes of lecture time. Elementary students should be provided this opportunity after approximately every 5 minutes of lecture time. Teachers also had to plan, describe, and select appropriate strategies, resources, and evaluation tools and create lessons that encompass these best practices. This course was taught by Staff Development Director Kate Hatch, Technology Curriculum Consultant Jody Bauer, and master teacher Julie Stagemeyer from Arapahoe Public Schools. Teachers from Holdrege Elementary, Alma, Gibbon and Overton Public Schools were in attendance.
