The ESU 11 Technology department recently coordinated a group purchase for thirteen new Dell PowerEdge servers. All ESU 11 member districts participated in the buy which drove down the final cost of these critical pieces of technology infrastructure.
Wade and Alex were able to get all of these servers loaded up with VMware’s ESXi virtualization software and out to each district in just under a month’s time. This new server hardware will make it easier for ESU 11 member schools to keep up-to-date with their server infrastructure, and also allows ESU 11 to standardize on a few different virtual server installs that are needed in each district. The new servers are already running each districts’ network controller software, and plans are in motion to migrate other services to these new servers over the coming months.
