On February 8, 2021 Educational Service Unit #11 sponsored the opportunity for area counselors to participate in a networking process that occurs four times each year. Staff Development Director Kate Hatch organized the counselors’ day. During this particular meeting, Shyanne Adams from Region 3 Behavioral Health Services, provided information on the Nebraska Strong Recovery Project. This is an outreach program for individuals, families, and communities impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in the state of Nebraska. This program provides community-based support and education to help Nebraskans cope during this stressful time. The project is funded by a grant from FEMA, the Center for Mental Health Services, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, the Nebraska Emergency Management Agency, and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services. She also discussed various programs that can be done to help support schools when dealing with handling stress, pandemic fatigue, and self-care.
