The ESU 11 Gifted Department held their Seventh Annual Battle of the Books on Wednesday, April 6. It was held at the Nebraska Prairie Museum because it has grown so much and had too many students participating to be held at the Service Unit. The 109 students participating were from 11 of the 13 ESU schools. They were excited to have that many students participating! The students visited with Authors Lynn Kelly (Song for a Whale) and Kelly Yang (Three Keys). Both authors were very interesting to listen to. The students made a whale craft, enjoyed pizza, and played KaHoot. The Wilcox-Hildreth students were the KaHoot winners! Prizes were given to the students who had completed the most book activities. Allegra Johnson from Wilcox-Hildreth completed 27 of the 32 possible activities. A great love of reading was enjoyed by all the participants. A huge thank-you goes out to all the participating schools and teachers for their support.
