On February 20, 2024, Kate Hatch organized an art enrichment workshop for area art teachers. This workshop was facilitated by Arapahoe Public Schools Art Teacher, Ashley Piquet. This day was designed for the artist/educator teaching kindergarten through twelfth grade. Ashley demonstrated the art of mixed media weaving. This is based on the work of El Anatsui, a Ghanaian sculptor known for his “bottle-top” installations. These installations consist of thousands of aluminum pieces sourced from recycling stations and sewn together with copper wire, which are then transformed into metallic cloth-like wall sculptures. The art teachers were also able to collaborate and share other ideas that they were able to take back to their individual schools.
