On October 29, 2018, ESU 11 coordinated a day for school teams to learn how to implement a Multi-Tiered System of Support process within their school. Nebraska Department of Education consultants, Jane Byers and Mary Jo McElhose were the facilitators. Participants learned the history of Response to Intervention (Rtl) and MTSS, and how the Nebraska definitions are clarified leading to a common, statewide language. Trainers relayed a strong message of, “MTSS is a framework to house the tools needed for continuous improvement, problem solving and decision making.” Problem solving models were shared and schools examined their own. Participants inventoried district or school initiatives leading to discussion of purpose and priorities.
