Nebraska Social Studies Workshop

On September 22, 2016, Harris Payne, NDE Social Studies Coordinator, conducted a Nebraska Social Studies workshop for area teachers.  During the course of the day, Harris provided a hands-on training on how to use interactive lessons that utilize the Giganto Nebraska Map. He also showed teachers how they can take their students on a Virtual Tour of Nebraska’s State Capitol.  Teachers were trained in using the website, and experienced the lessons that are available to use with students.  The lessons for both activities were developed by Nebraska teachers and include standards based activities in geography, civics, Nebraska History, economics, math, science, and the fine arts.
