Speech language pathologists (SLPs) provide evaluation, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to students with speech, language, and communication disorders that interfere with learning and social interaction. The SLP collaborates with teachers, families, and other school personnel to enhance students’ communication skills and ensure access to the educational curriculum.

- Language:
- Challenges with a student’s understanding of spoken and written language (listening comprehension, reading, spelling) or their ability to express themselves (oral expression, writing)
- Articulation:
- Difficulty with the physical production of speech sounds, which can include substitutions, omissions, distortions, or other atypical productions of speech sounds
- Voice:
- Disorders that affect the quality, pitch, or loudness of the voice
- Fluency:
- Abnormal interruptions in the flow of speech
