On September 25, 2012, the ESU 11 Professional Development and Special Education Departments offered a collaborative workshop for area educators. The morning session was entitled “Child Abuse Neglect 101” and was presented by Forensic Interview Specialist Jamie Vetter. During the course of the morning, Jamie covered six main topics:
1. Understanding child abuse and neglect
2. Reporting child abuse
3. Indicators of abuse and neglect
4. How do I report?
5. What happens after making a report?
6. What happens to the reporter after the report is made?
The afternoon session addressed a number of topics on how to effectively manage resistant behavior in children from preschool to high school. This session was facilitated by ESU 5 Behavior Consultant Matt McNiff, M.A.
