The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) law requires local schools to provide expanded educational opportunities for eligible students. The expanded educational opportunities include instruction in Reading, Language Arts and Math beyond the regular school day. The SES program is required if the local school test scores do not meet the NCLB requirement of 100% of the students being proficient for two or more consecutive years of testing.

The district will utilize Direct Instruction in a small group/individual setting in order to maximize student achievement. Qualified staff members will analyze the most current NWEA MAP or other Norm Referenced test data, Nebraska State Assessment data, and DIBELS/AIMSweb benchmarking data in order to identify specific skill gaps of individual students. Once these gaps have been identified, an individual improvement plan that addresses these specific needs will be constructed and students will be grouped according to like needs. In addition regular progress monitoring will occur to ensure the effectiveness of the individual improvement plan. Participants will meet at the district and utilize the district’s computers in order to access programs.
