On March 27, 2017, Julane Hill from NDE conducted a workshop for Physical Education teachers. This workshop examined the new K–12 Physical Education standards that were recently developed, and provided resources and ideas to integrate into elementary, middle and high school programs. Teachers were also able to collaborate and explore possible ways to integrate these standards into their classrooms.
On March 11, 2014, ESU 11 hosted a Physical Education Workshop. Megan Adkins, Assistant Professor at the Health and Physical Education Department at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, was the facilitator for the day. During the course of the day, Megan presented information and demonstrated strategies to increase physical activity, teach dance, implement technology into the PE program, and maintain effective classroom management.
On January 31, 2013, ESU 11 conducted a workshop for Physical Education teachers. The facilitator for the day was Julane Hill, NDE School Health Director. This workshop focused on best practices as defined by National and State Standards. During the course of the day, the group learned about the National PE Standards and Nebraska Department of Education’s Physical Education Essential Learnings, appropriate instructional practice guidelines and opportunity to learning guidelines for physical education, and the Presidential Youth Fitness Program.
