Invention Convention 2013

The 22nd Annual Invention Convention hosted by Educational Service Unit #11 of Holdrege, and organized by Tim Burke, Director of Gifted Education was held Monday, April 15, 2013 at Pioneer Village in Minden. 138 inventors in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 participated. Participating schools included: Alma, Cambridge, Franklin, Holdrege, Minden, and Wilcox-Hildreth.

This year there was a tie for the Harold Warp Memorial Inventors’ Choice Award. The winners were Brianna Kuehn, 3rd Grade, Minden Elementary with Jell-O Chip, Display #3-8 and Sydney Reed and Alivia Nelson, 6th Grade, Holdrege Middle School with Commercial Chooser, Display #6-5. Inventors’ Choice winners received a certificate and will share a traveling trophy that will be displayed at their respective schools. Each inventor at Invention Convention casts one vote for their favorite invention to determine the winner.

Students were first judged in their grade level which was divided into groups called “Inventor’s Circles”. There were 14 different Inventor’s Circles which each had a 1st,
2nd, and 3rd place winner. The judges then picked a champion for each Grade Level. Grade Level Winners were as follows:

3rd Grade: Maylee Kamery, Minden Elementary, Display #3-4, Cozy Coozies
4th Grade: Gage Huston, Holdrege R-7, Display #4-11, NewZooka
5th Grade: Claire Harrison, Franklin, Display #5-7, iBake
6th Grade: Sam Gerdes, Franklin, Display #6-3, Emergency Preparedness Pack
7th Grade: Jianna Sorensen & Rylie Cole, Minden C L Jones, Display #7-1, Duct Tape Electronic Holder
8th Grade: Owen Bridges, Minden C L Jones. Display #8-1, Flying Power

Invention Convention 2012

The 21st Annual Invention Convention hosted by Educational Service Unit #11 of Holdrege, and organized by Tim Burke, Director of Gifted Education was held Monday, April 16, 2012 at Pioneer Village in Minden. 145 inventors in grades 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 participated. Participating schools included: Alma, Cambridge, Franklin, Holdrege, Minden, and Wilcox-Hildreth.

This year’s winners of the Harold Warp Memorial Inventor’s Choice Award were Cydney Hoskins and Konnor Nielsen from Minden. Their invention was the “Squeaky Clean Brush”. They received a certificate as well as a trophy that will be displayed at their school. Each inventor at Invention Convention casts one vote for their favorite invention to determine the winner.

Students were first judged in their grade level which was divided into groups called “Inventor’s Circles”. There were 14 different Inventor’s Circles which each had a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.

Invention Convention 2011

The Twentieth Annual Invention Convention hosted by Educational Service Unit #11 of Holdrege, and organized by Tim Burke, Director of Gifted Education was held Monday, April 18, 2011 at Pioneer Village in Minden.  134 inventors in grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 participated.  Participating schools included: Alma, Cambridge, Franklin, Holdrege, Minden, and Wilcox-Hildreth.

Students were first judged in their grade level which was divided into groups called “Inventor’s Circles”.  There were 14 different Inventor’s Circles which each had a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner.   Results were as follows:

Invention Convention 2010

The Nineteenth Annual Invention Convention hosted by Educational Service Unit #11 of Holdrege, and organized by Tim Burke, Director of Gifted Education was held Monday, April 19, 2010 at Pioneer Village in Minden. 134 inventors in grades three through seven participated. Participating schools included: Alma, Cambridge, Franklin, Holdrege, Minden, and Wilcox-Hildreth.

For the first time, each student voted for their favorite invention. This year’s winner of the Harold Warp Memorial Inventor’s Choice Award was Asa Sinachack, 3rd Grade, from Franklin with the Tick Tock Candy Clock. Asa received a certificate as well as a trophy that will be displayed at his school.
