Functions, Algebra and Geometry Class Offered at ESU #11

During the week of June 11, 2012, the Educational Service Unit #11 Staff Development Department partnered with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln to offer a Nebraska Math Summer Institute course.  The Nebraska Math Summer Institute program was created to provide opportunities for Nebraska teachers to deepen their knowledge of mathematics content and pedagogy, and to bring these opportunities to the teachers’ own communities.  This week long course was designed to help teachers gain a deep understanding of the concept of function and the algebra and geometry concepts taught in the middle-level (through early high school) curriculum.  Studying this content at a deeper level will help participants better prepare students for the Nebraska State Math Assessment.  Dan Schaben, master teacher of mathematics from Arapahoe-Holbrook Public School, was the instructor for the week.
