On October 3, 2011, ESU #11 organized a fall conference for the fourteen schools in the ESU #11 area. This conference was entitled “Visions for Success” and provided teachers with the opportunity to learn about educational trends, techniques, and effective teaching practices in each of their respective subject areas.
The day began with nationally known keynote speaker Steve Gilliland. Steve’s opening keynote focused on how educators make a difference and impact student achievement. After this address, teachers were then provided the opportunity to select three breakout sessions to attend. There were approximately forty-six sessions from which to choose. Sessions focused on technology integration, special education, coaching, media, art, music, reading, math, science, foreign language, and career education.
The day concluded with a closing keynote address given again by Steve Gilliland. Steve’s closing keynote concentrated on strategies that educators can use when facing the many conflicting demands that they face in our world today. Approximately 600 educators were in attendance.
