On September 21, 2010, ESU #11 hosted a workshop for music teachers. Janita Pavelka was the instructor. During the course of the day, participants learned four songs, variations, arrangements, duets, composition and improv exercises using a hands-on playing-based approach called Simply Music.
Simply Music is an Australian-developed piano program where students are playing blues, classical, accompaniment and contemporary pieces from their very first lessons. The activities from the day can be used in the classroom to teach groups of children how to play great-sounding songs on the piano, both hands together, in one class period. This is a fun, natural and quick way to teach piano pieces to students.
